University of Hawaii Federal Credit Union (UHFCU), a member-owned financial cooperative with over $450 million in assets and 22,000 members, was struggling with nightly tape backups that often ran into the workday. The IT team needed faster, more reliable backups and better disaster recovery, evaluated several vendors, and selected ExaGrid for its byte-level deduplication and performance.

UHFCU deployed a two-site ExaGrid system integrated with Symantec Backup Exec, enabling post-process deduplication with ratios of 20:1 to 39:1. Backups now finish by 1:00 a.m., restores are faster and simpler, tape management is eliminated, nightly replication provides offsite disaster recovery, and the scalable GRID architecture reduces administration time while improving business continuity.
