Township High School District 113 Opts for Scalability, Selects ExaGrid over Data Domain

Township High School District 113, which serves about 3,750 students across Highland Park and Deerfield High Schools, was struggling with rapidly growing data and an unreliable tape-based backup process. Nightly backups routinely missed windows, weekly fulls had to be staggered across weekends, tapes and drives were failing, and IT staff spent large portions of their week managing backups and restores.

The district implemented a dual-site ExaGrid disk-based, scale-out backup system with post-process deduplication and replication, integrating with their existing Backup Exec (and planned Veeam) environment. After deployment, full backups now complete in about 10 hours, multiple jobs run concurrently, large restores (e.g., AutoCAD files) take under 15 minutes, and backup administration dropped from a full day to roughly one hour per week—while providing easy expansion and strong vendor support.
