A ExaGrid Case Study
The Old Globe Theatre, a Tony Award–winning regional theatre in San Diego, had moved from tape to disk but was relying on direct-attached and consumer-grade disk devices. Backups ran slowly, capacity and retention goals weren’t being met, and IT staff spent hours each week juggling jobs and restores—SAN options were too costly for the theatre’s budget.
The Globe installed an ExaGrid disk‑based backup system with post‑process deduplication, storing about 18 TB and achieving dedupe ratios up to 52:1 for Exchange. The solution delivered four months of nightly full backups, sped the backup window by roughly 25–30%, enabled full-server restores in under an hour, reduced IT interaction with backups by an estimated 70–80%, and integrated easily with Backup Exec while offering simple, GRID-based scalability and strong vendor support.
