The Chronicle of Higher Education, a leading news and jobs resource for academics with a 70+ editorial staff and roughly 220 users, was struggling with tape-based backups. Nightly jobs routinely pushed up against a nine-hour backup window, tape rotation was time-consuming, and growth had driven tape consumption to about 20 tapes per week.
