TAG-IT Reduces Backup Times, Increases Storage Capacity Using ExaGrid’s Disk Backup and Deduplication Solution

TAG Integrated Technologies (TAG‑IT), the IT services arm of Asbury Communities, was protecting 188 TB across roughly 180 servers using tape backups. Daily backups routinely took more than 12 hours and weekly fulls consumed up to three days, making restores slow and backup management increasingly impractical.

TAG‑IT moved to ExaGrid’s disk-based backup with byte-level deduplication (working with their existing CommVault Simpana), cutting the daily backup window by about 75%—daily fulls are now under three hours and weekly jobs finish in 4–5 hours—while a 20 GB server restore dropped from ~2 hours to ~10 minutes. The solution delivered ~15:1 deduplication, higher effective storage capacity, faster read/write performance, simpler management and responsive vendor support.
