St. John's Riverside Hospital was facing serious challenges with its outdated backup infrastructure, leading to backup windows exceeding 12 hours, system slowdowns, and insufficient data retention. To address this, they selected a disk-based backup system from ExaGrid, implementing it alongside Veritas NetBackup software.

ExaGrid provided a two-site system using its Tiered Backup Storage with a post-process deduplication approach. This solution cut the hospital's backup window in half to six hours, increased retention from one week to three months, and achieved deduplication ratios as high as 29:1. The ExaGrid system also enabled fast restores and easy scalability, meeting all performance claims and resolving the hospital's critical backup and recovery issues.
