Southeastern Container cuts full backup window 75% with ExaGrid

Southeastern Container (SEC), a manufacturer of plastic bottles for the Coca-Cola bottling community, was struggling with lengthy backup windows and an unreliable tape-based system. Their 5TB of data took 36 hours for a full backup, and they needed to increase retention from two weeks to three months. To meet these goals, SEC chose to deploy ExaGrid's disk-based backup with deduplication system.

By implementing ExaGrid, SEC achieved a 75% reduction in its backup window, from 36 hours down to just 8 hours. The solution provided extremely high deduplication rates, up to 61:1, which allowed them to meet their retention goals. Restores that used to be a concern became reliable and were completed in minutes. The ExaGrid system was also noted for its ease of installation and phenomenal customer support.
