Scalable ExaGrid System Easily Supports Continued Data Growth for Telecommunications Provider

Farmers Telephone Cooperative (FTC), a South Carolina telecommunications provider serving over 60,000 customers, faced rapidly growing backup volumes after virtualizing its environment. Backup jobs stretched as long as 24 hours and tape management consumed IT time, prompting FTC to replace its legacy backup software with Veeam and look for a scalable disk-based backup solution.

FTC deployed a two‑site ExaGrid scale‑out GRID integrated with Veeam and has grown the system to six appliances across two datacenters. The solution delivered post‑process, zone‑level deduplication (reducing data by about 12:1), faster backups and restores, seamless scalability, and top‑rated support—allowing FTC to reduce backup times, cut tape reliance (with plans to eliminate tape entirely), and easily absorb future data growth.
