Savers, a global thrift-store chain with 222 locations, needed to replace an aging tape-based backup process after vendor support ended. Tape backups were slow, labor-intensive and often exceeded 24 hours, prompting IT to seek a disk-based solution that would reduce backup windows and administrative overhead.

Savers deployed an ExaGrid appliance integrated with CommVault Galaxy, using post-process deduplication and last-backup compression for fast restores. The solution cut nightly backup windows from over 24 hours to under 8 hours, delivered deduplication ratios up to 30:1, simplified administration for a lean IT team, and provided easy scalability and the option to replicate to a second site to further reduce tape use.
