Saker ShopRite’s, Inc., a Wakefern member operating 27 ShopRite supermarkets in New Jersey with over 10,000 employees, was struggling with long nightly backups, an unreliable tape library, frequent tape failures, and slow restores that regularly exceeded backup windows.

They deployed ExaGrid’s disk-based backup appliance with post-process data deduplication alongside their existing Symantec Backup Exec. Full backup time fell from more than 15 hours to about 4 hours, backups now finish within windows, restores are faster, installation and expansion were straightforward, and deduplication significantly reduced storage needs.
