Case Study: Rio Bank achieves faster backups and improved data security with ExaGrid

A ExaGrid Case Study

Preview of the Rio Bank Case Study

Rio Bank Credits ExaGrid with Faster Backups, Improved Data Security

Rio Bank, a community bank founded in 1985 with seven branches in South Texas, was struggling with slow, costly and insecure tape-based backups—running 15 hours nightly, consuming about 40 tapes a week, and risking loss or theft during courier transport. The IT team needed a faster, more reliable solution that preserved their existing Backup Exec environment while improving data security and disaster recovery.

Rio Bank deployed a two-site ExaGrid disk-based backup system with post-process deduplication integrated with Symantec Backup Exec and nightly replication to an offsite appliance. The change dramatically reduced tape use and backup windows, automated reporting and administration, improved recovery and data security, and lowered storage and WAN costs through high deduplication ratios and scalable, supported architecture.
