PT Tech, an Ohio-based OEM supplier founded in 1978, was protecting about 25 virtual machines with tape-based backups via Symantec Backup Exec. The process was slow, cumbersome, and risky for the company’s lean IT team, so PT Tech sought a more reliable, efficient solution to improve backup windows and disaster-recovery reliability.

PT Tech deployed ExaGrid’s disk-based backup with byte-level post-process deduplication (compatible with Backup Exec), benefiting from quick setup and responsive support. Full backup times fell from nearly a full weekend to 1–2 hours, restores became much faster, and deduplication reduced storage needs dramatically (typically 10:1–50:1), cutting costs and simplifying recovery.
