A ExaGrid Case Study
David Weekley Homes, a large privately held homebuilder based in Houston, faced budget and staffing cuts during an economic downturn and found its hosted, tape-based backup approach was costly and unreliable—long backup windows, missed daily incrementals and fulls, and an inability of the provider to back up Exchange left critical systems unprotected.
The company deployed ExaGrid’s disk-based backup with byte-level deduplication working alongside Symantec Backup Exec, enabling nightly incrementals and weekend fulls while keeping its existing backup application. Backups became about 75% faster, restores sped up, and disk space requirements fell roughly 10:1 to 24:1, giving David Weekley Homes a scalable, more reliable and cost-effective data-protection solution.
