A ExaGrid Case Study
Morton Plant Mease Primary Care, a non‑profit network of more than 100 board‑certified physicians serving Pinellas, Pasco and West Hillsborough counties in Florida, faced an aging backup infrastructure that couldn’t keep up with rapid data growth. Relying on tape, IT ran backups around the clock yet still couldn’t complete full jobs, forcing staff to juggle tasks and risking patient and billing data availability.
The organization implemented an ExaGrid disk‑based system with post‑process deduplication alongside Symantec Backup Exec, which reduced stored data and accelerated operations. Results included deduplication ratios up to 76:1 (37 TB stored in 5.5 TB), backup windows cut from over 24 hours to 12 hours, much faster restores, reduced daily administration, and scalable, well‑supported infrastructure for future growth.
