Mokena School District 159 Prepares for Data Growth, Chooses ExaGrid’s Purpose-Built Appliance for Backup and Data Dedupe

Mokena School District 159, which serves about 1,700 K–8 students in Mokena, Illinois, needed to replace an aging tape library and prepare for growing backup demands from virtualization and other initiatives. The IT team wanted a scalable, reliable solution that would integrate with their existing Symantec Backup Exec and reduce backup complexity.

They deployed an ExaGrid disk-based backup appliance with post-process deduplication (achieving up to 18:1), which cut nightly backups from 12–14 hours to roughly five hours and shortened restores from about 20 minutes to just a few minutes. The appliance was easy to install, preserved their Backup Exec investment, and provided GRID scalability and proactive support for cost-effective future growth.
