Miami Marlins Increases Data Fourfold Yet Reduces Backup Window by 50% with ExaGrid

The Miami Marlins, who opened their state-of-the-art Marlins Park in 2012, redesigned their IT infrastructure but faced severe backup challenges: tape-library maintenance, cumbersome disk backups, and full backups that ran nearly 80 hours as their data grew from about 20TB to roughly 80TB driven by heavy graphics and video content.

They deployed a two-site ExaGrid system with Veeam, eliminating tape and using a landing-zone plus post-process, zone-level deduplication and offsite replication. The result: backup windows were cut by about 50% to under 40 hours despite fourfold data growth, redundant storage was reduced, and ExaGrid’s GRID scalability and responsive support let the solution grow smoothly with ongoing 100% annual data increases.
