MetoKote Smooths Backups and Restores with ExaGrid

MetoKote Corporation, a Lima, Ohio–based leader in protective coating services serving over 1,000 customers worldwide, was struggling with rapidly expanding backup windows and unreliable tape-based backups despite migrating tape formats. The IT team needed a more efficient, scalable solution to protect user files, servers, Exchange and SQL databases across multiple sites without adding management or licensing complexity.

MetoKote deployed ExaGrid with its existing CA ARCserve backup, using ExaGrid’s post-process, byte-level deduplication and efficient WAN replication to reduce storage needs and move only changed data between sites. The result: backup windows were cut roughly in half, full weekend backups finish by mid‑morning, nightly incrementals complete by early morning, restores that used to take up to an hour now complete in seconds, tape dependence was eliminated, and the system can be easily scaled and replicated to a second site with minimal bandwidth.
