LRGHealthcare Streamlines Backups, Improves Disaster Recovery with ExaGrid

LRGHealthcare, a not-for-profit trust operating Lakes Region General Hospital (137 beds) and Franklin Regional Hospital (25 beds) in Laconia, NH, was struggling with lengthy tape backups that often ran 10+ hours, generated large numbers of tapes, and caused network congestion and high IT management overhead.

LRGHealthcare implemented an ExaGrid disk-based backup system that worked with their existing Symantec Backup Exec, using post-process byte-level de-duplication and a second site for replication. Backups became much faster, 26.7 TB of data is stored on 3.2 TB of disk with five weeks of retention, bandwidth use between sites was minimized, disaster recovery was strengthened, and the IT team reported strong vendor support.
