A ExaGrid Case Study
Lawrence General Hospital, a 189‑bed facility serving communities near Lawrence, MA, was burdened by cumbersome, time‑consuming tape backups and unreliable restores. With a small IT team that needed dependable nightly backups and fast restores, tape management and missing files created unacceptable risk and operational overhead.
The hospital deployed an ExaGrid disk‑based backup appliance that integrated with their existing Symantec Backup Exec and used post‑process, byte‑level deduplication to reduce storage and retain three months of backups onsite. The change delivered faster, more reliable backups and restores, lower tape costs and administration, remote monitoring/restores for on‑call staff, and a scalable platform to support future offsite replication and disaster recovery.
