Lawndale Christian Health Center Shortens Lengthy Backup Window, Tightens Disaster Recovery Capability with ExaGrid

Lawndale Christian Health Center, a Chicago-based nonprofit that provides primary care through 50+ providers and handles over 119,000 patient visits annually, was struggling with lengthy tape-based backups and weak disaster recovery confidence. Long backup windows made it difficult to complete full backups during off hours, and IT staff were concerned there was no reliable way to ensure recoverability when needed.

LCHC deployed a two-site ExaGrid disk-based backup system with post-process deduplication that works with their existing Symantec Backup Exec and replicates nightly to a secondary site. The new solution shortened backup windows (file-server backups dropped from over 12 hours to under eight), enabled concurrent jobs and faster restores, increased retention through deduplication, simplified management, and significantly improved their disaster recovery capability.
