Lavi Industries, a Valencia, California–based provider of public guidance solutions, was struggling with rapidly growing data and tape-based backups that regularly ran past the nightly window—often starting at 6pm and not finishing until noon the next day—causing system performance issues and slow restores.

Lavi deployed two ExaGrid disk-based backup appliances (one per site) that work with their existing Symantec Backup Exec and use post-process deduplication. The change cut backup times from over 18 hours to about six (a >50% reduction), eliminated most tape hassles, enabled near-instant restores, and provided a scalable, easier-to-manage solution with responsive vendor support.
