Johnson Health Network Cures Backup Pain With ExaGrid

Johnson Health Network, an 89-bed acute-care system serving about 96,000 patients annually across nine sites, faced rapidly growing data as it brought electronic medical records on-site. The organization was forced to use expensive primary storage for temporary backups and tape for offsite copies, creating long 22–28 hour backup windows and a need for a tighter disaster recovery plan.

They deployed ExaGrid’s disk-based, scale-out backup solution—compatible with their existing Symantec Backup Exec so no workflow changes were required. ExaGrid’s compression and byte-level delta technology reclaimed the 50% of live disk space previously used for backups, reduced redundant WAN transfers, sped verification and restores, and enabled a second off-site ExaGrid to replace tapes for faster, more cost-effective disaster recovery.
