John Knox Village Selects ExaGrid-Veeam for Fast Backups, Restores, and Replication

John Knox Village is a large not‑for‑profit retirement community in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, that moved to a virtualized environment and needed a faster, more reliable way to back up and replicate its mix of file, Exchange, SQL servers and domain controllers. The IT team wanted shorter backup windows, near‑instant restores and offsite replication for disaster recovery while reducing the time spent managing backups.

The Village deployed an ExaGrid appliance paired with Veeam at both the primary and DR sites, using ExaGrid’s disk “landing zone,” zone‑level deduplication and a 10GbE connection. Daily incrementals now take about 15 minutes, full backups 2–3 hours, and file restores are measured in seconds; VMs can be run directly from the appliance for instant recovery. The solution also reduced storage through combined dedupe, provided expert support during a Veeam issue, and noticeably cut backup management time for IT.
