Ingenico, a global provider of fixed, wireless and mobile point-of-sale solutions serving over 250,000 merchants, was hampered by time-consuming, unreliable backups. Using a mix of tape and non-dedicated disk with Veritas Backup Exec, the IT team spent roughly eight man-hours per week troubleshooting failures and backups frequently ran through the workday—sometimes around the clock.
After selecting ExaGrid for its deduplication, replication, scalability and cost, Ingenico consolidated to ExaGrid appliances. Backups now complete in a fixed six-hour window (6:00 p.m.–midnight), tape has been eliminated, retention has grown to nearly a year of daily backups, troubleshooting time is essentially gone, and the solution has scaled easily across multiple sites with responsive support.
