A ExaGrid Case Study
Health Services & Benefit Administrators, Inc. (HS&BA), a California-based third-party administrator founded in 1989, was struggling with slow, unreliable tape backups (DLT/LTO with Veritas Backup Exec). Manual tape rotations, media failures and the need to retrieve offsite cartridges had stretched the nightly backup window to 22 hours and consumed significant IT staff time.
HS&BA deployed ExaGrid disk-based backup appliances, virtualized its environment and moved from tape to image-level VM backups (initially with vRanger, then optimized with Veeam). The ExaGrid landing zone and Veeam integration cut the backup window from 22 to 12 hours (then to 10 hours with Veeam), enabled more daily backups, faster restores and VM recoveries, reduced administration time and improved reliability, deduplication and offsite replication for disaster recovery.
