Helukabel, a German-based manufacturer and supplier of cables and wires, needed a more secure and higher-performing backup storage solution to protect against ransomware and improve its backup processes. The company was using Veeam with local disk storage and sought a system with better data protection and faster performance. This led them to the vendor ExaGrid and its tiered backup storage system.

ExaGrid implemented its unique two-tiered architecture, which includes a non-network-facing retention tier to guard against malware. The solution provided faster backups and restores, integrating seamlessly with Helukabel's existing Veeam setup. The results were significant: backups became ten times faster, a 2TB VM was restored in 45 minutes, and data deduplication allowed for increased retention, saving on storage costs. The customer also praised ExaGrid for its A+ customer support and the security provided by the Retention Time-Lock feature.
