Hamilton College Chooses ExaGrid and Veeam for Backup Efficiency

Hamilton College, a 1,850‑student liberal arts institution, was struggling after virtualizing its environment: with roughly 60 TB of data, nightly backups frequently failed or ran too long, restores were slow, and IT staff spent most of their week monitoring and rerunning jobs using a mix of Backup Exec, virtual tape and LTO tape.

The college deployed a two‑site ExaGrid solution integrated with Veeam (and Backup Exec for physical servers), using ExaGrid’s landing zone, zone‑level deduplication (up to 17:1) and automated offsite replication. Backups and restores are now much faster, failures are rare, disaster recovery is simplified, disk use is dramatically reduced and the IT team gained significant time savings—escalating to 100% time saved on replication—supported by assigned ExaGrid engineers.
