Hamilton College achieves 17:1 dedupe and 100% replication time savings with ExaGrid

Hamilton College, a liberal arts college in New York, faced slow, unreliable backups and time-consuming management as its data grew past 60TB. Its previous combination of Veritas Backup Exec, a disk-based virtual tape library, and LTO tape led to nightly job failures and tedious manual oversight. Seeking efficiency and to eliminate tape, the college upgraded its backup infrastructure with ExaGrid.

ExaGrid implemented a two-site solution with its tiered backup storage, seamlessly working with both Veeam for virtual servers and Backup Exec for physical ones. The solution delivered massive time savings, a 17:1 deduplication ratio using a fraction of the disk capacity, and 100% time savings on replication management for offsite disaster recovery. ExaGrid provided reliable, fast backups and restores, allowing the IT team to reclaim significant time previously spent on backup monitoring.
