Franklin University cuts 20 backup jobs to 8 with ExaGrid

Franklin University needed to replace its NAS storage appliances for backups to achieve longer-term data retention and to strengthen its defenses against ransomware. Their virtualization and storage engineer, Josh Brandon, found most solutions were either too expensive or insufficiently capable. He chose ExaGrid's Tiered Backup Storage for its ability to meet these specific needs within budget.

The implemented ExaGrid system provided extended retention and the critical Retention Time-Lock feature for ransomware recovery. It also delivered significant storage savings through efficient deduplication without impacting backup performance. ExaGrid reduced the university's backup jobs from 20 to eight, with all completing well within the nightly backup window, and restored performance was described as flawless.
