A ExaGrid Case Study
First National Bank of Henning, a century-old independent community bank in Minnesota, was relying on slow, unreliable tape backups that frequently failed, created daytime reruns, and cost about $5,000/year in tapes. With regulatory pressure to prove timely disaster recovery and growing data volumes, the bank needed a more reliable, manageable and cost-effective backup solution.
FNB Henning deployed a two‑site ExaGrid disk-based backup appliance with post-process data deduplication (working with Symantec Backup Exec) and automatic replication to an offsite ExaGrid. Backups were cut by about 50% (from 9–10 hours), restores now occur in minutes, tape failures and tape-handling costs were eliminated, and the scalable GRID architecture and strong vendor support simplified future growth and disaster recovery.
