ExaGrid’s Integration with Veeam Provides ‘Seamless’ Backup for Logan Aluminum

Logan Aluminum, a Kentucky-based subsidiary of Novelis and a leading flat-rolled aluminum manufacturer, needed to replace an aging tape-based backup workflow that no longer had vendor support. Their previous setup—Veeam to local disk with Veritas tape archiving—was poorly integrated, slow to restore, and made disaster recovery testing a multi-day ordeal, so the IT team sought a purpose-built backup appliance that would improve performance, retention, and DR readiness.

They selected ExaGrid after a trial and deployed appliances at both primary and DR sites while keeping Veeam. ExaGrid’s disk landing zone, adaptive deduplication, and replication delivered seamless Veeam integration, roughly 4:1 deduplication (135TB logical → 38TB stored), shorter backup windows, restores reduced from days to minutes/hours, and DR tests cut from three days to a few hours—meeting retention needs comfortably.
