AspenTech, a global leader in asset‑performance software, needed a faster, lower‑cost backup strategy for its mostly virtualized, worldwide environment. The company was relying on tape (Quantum Scalar with Dell EMC NetWorker), which was slow and storage‑inefficient, and sought deduplication, shorter backup windows, easier restores and reliable offsite replication across multiple time zones.

AspenTech deployed ExaGrid appliances with Veeam at five sites, using ExaGrid’s landing‑zone and scale‑out architecture plus Veeam’s job‑level dedupe. Backups that once took up to 24 hours now complete in as little as one hour (four hours at headquarters), instant VM boots and restores are available with a few clicks, single‑file restores drop from ~60 minutes to ~10 minutes, and combined deduplication of roughly 6:1–10:1 (7.5:1 at HQ) has delivered significant disk and cost savings—backed by fast, responsive support.
