Glens Falls Hospital, a not-for-profit in upstate New York that operates 29 regional facilities and works with more than 225 physicians across a 3,300-square-mile area, ran into a sudden data growth that filled its legacy disk backup. Expanding that system proved costly and complex, so the hospital sought a scalable, CommVault-compatible solution that would deliver efficient backups and fast restores.

They deployed ExaGrid—initially one appliance and now five—using GRID architecture for simple capacity and performance scaling and post-process, zone-level deduplication for efficient storage. The system now holds over 400 TB of source data in 34 TB of disk (average dedupe about 12:1, with peaks to 70:1 and a 21 TB finance backup reduced to 355 GB), provides minute‑fast restores, centralized management, and reliable assigned support, reducing hardware churn and backup costs while integrating seamlessly with CommVault Simpana.
