A ExaGrid Case Study
New England Law | Boston, a long-established law school in downtown Boston, was struggling with an aging backup approach that created disaster-recovery and operational headaches: lengthy backup windows (24–30+ hours), complex disk provisioning, limited capacity and heavy reliance on tape, all of which constrained retention and growth.
The school deployed a two-site ExaGrid deduplication solution integrated with Symantec Backup Exec, cutting weekend backup windows to 12–18 hours, achieving dedupe ratios up to 16:1 and extending retention from two weeks to 16 weeks. The GRID architecture simplified capacity management and scaling without forklift upgrades, reduced tape dependence, improved replication and recovery, and delivered strong vendor support.
