ExaGrid Provides Reliable Backups and Disaster Recovery Protection to Midwest Bank

Midwest Bank, a locally owned independent bank in West Central Minnesota with $258M in assets, seven branches and 85 employees, undertook a virtualization initiative and needed a more secure, reliable backup and disaster-recovery strategy. The bank wanted to replace error-prone tape backups, protect customer data and staff work, recover quickly after incidents, and maintain compatibility with its existing Symantec Backup Exec environment while keeping administration minimal.

The bank deployed a two-site ExaGrid system (primary plus replicated secondary) to back up Citrix, file and email servers, with plans to add the core server and retire tape. ExaGrid’s fast disk-based backups, post-process deduplication (10:1 to 50:1), and zone-level replication shortened backup windows, reduced storage and WAN usage, and delivered hands-off reliability—giving IT peace of mind, easier management and robust disaster recovery.
