A ExaGrid Case Study
ASGCO Manufacturing, a Pennsylvania-based maker of bulk conveyor components, was struggling with unreliable tape backups and a failing backup server that caused missed backup windows, constant troubleshooting, and limited retention—only four weeks of historical data. IT staff spent hours each week managing tape and juggling jobs, prompting the company to seek a more stable, easy-to-manage solution.
ASGCO deployed an ExaGrid disk-based backup system that integrates with its existing Symantec Backup Exec and uses zone-level data deduplication and a scalable GRID architecture. The install was quick and largely maintenance-free; deduplication extended retention from four to 16 weeks, backups now complete nightly without fail, administrator time spent on backups dropped significantly, and storage and WAN costs were reduced through efficient post-process dedupe.
