A ExaGrid Case Study
Weber County Library System (WCLS) is a public library network in northern Utah serving about 213,000 residents (and up to 330,000 through interlocal agreements). After a primary-server drive failure and costly data recovery, WCLS realized its SAN snapshots and tape-based, file-level backups weren’t sufficient for virtual-machine failures and needed a fast, reliable solution with offsite disaster recovery.
WCLS deployed Veeam Backup & Recovery with ExaGrid disk-based appliances at its main site and a branch for nightly cross-replication. ExaGrid’s post-process, zone-level deduplication and Veeam integration cut backup windows from 6–8 hours to about 90 minutes, enabled quick full-machine restores, delivered significant storage savings (typical dedupe 10:1–50:1), simplified management with automated reporting, and provided scalable, proactive support—restoring confidence in their disaster recovery.
