CTDI Installs ExaGrid to Establish Offsite Storage that Matches Long-Term Data Growth

Communications Test Design, Inc. (CTDI) is a global engineering, repair and logistics company supporting major telecom OEMs and carriers with more than 14,000 employees. Facing growing data volumes and a move to a remote co-location, CTDI needed a maintenance‑free offsite backup solution to replace or supplement LTO tape backups and make restores faster and more reliable.

CTDI deployed ExaGrid in 2010 and replicated backups between sites; the disk-based landing zone and adaptive deduplication (about 10:1 on mostly Oracle data) delivered instantaneous restores, shorter backup windows, and offsite disaster recovery readiness. The system proved easy to install and scale—CTDI added appliances and later upgraded for greater capacity and encryption—and ExaGrid’s responsive support reduced tape handling and simplified ongoing backup management.
