Conwy & Denbighshire Trust Cures Backup Issues with ExaGrid

Conwy & Denbighshire NHS Trust, which provides acute, community, mental health and learning-disability services across central North Wales, had moved from tape to disk-to-disk backups to speed restores but found the solution couldn’t retain more than two weeks of data and still ran backups beyond their 12-hour window. The Trust also needed stronger protection for sensitive patient data and easy access to about 30 days of backups for restores.

Working with reseller Clunk Click, the Trust deployed ExaGrid alongside its existing Symantec Backup Exec environment. Backups for protected servers fell (one example from 17 hours to under 12), restores became nearly instantaneous, and ExaGrid’s 15:1 data reduction allowed four weeks of retention with a smaller footprint, lower cost and easy GRID scalability—while improving backup security, simplifying management, and delivering fast installation and responsive support.
