Community Credit Union Shortens Backup Window, Increases Retention with ExaGrid

Community Credit Union, a member-owned financial cooperative serving six counties in Central Florida with seven branches, had been relying on mirrored tape backups that were slow, hard to manage and strained limited IT resources. The lengthy nightly jobs and difficult restores prompted the credit union to seek a more reliable, disk-based solution.

CCU deployed three ExaGrid appliances integrated with Symantec Backup Exec (OST), using post-process deduplication and GRID scalability plus dedicated support for easy installation and management. As a result, backups now complete in three hours or less (about half the previous time), restores are much faster and simpler, storage requirements have dropped so the credit union can retain more historical backups, and overall backup administration time has been significantly reduced.
