CoachComm, based in Auburn, Alabama, is a leading provider of wireless coaches’ communications serving 97% of Division 1A colleges and thousands of other programs. In April 2016 a catastrophic fire destroyed their server room—wiping out servers, virtual hosts and backup tapes—and threatened critical operations and payroll; their ExaGrid appliance, fortunately, survived.
By leveraging the surviving ExaGrid appliance and migrating backups to Veeam, CoachComm recovered 95% of their data within days and restored email and core systems so payroll ran that same week. The ExaGrid–Veeam solution also cut backup windows by half, increased retention to five weeks, maximized disk space via deduplication, simplified backup management and delivered reliable disaster recovery with responsive support.
