A ExaGrid Case Study
The City of Miami Beach, a 90,000-resident municipality, was struggling to protect a rapidly growing dataset—backing up nearly 3 TB each night with a mix of SAN disk and tape. IT staff faced rising disk additions, missed backup windows, restore difficulties and increasing complexity from managing both disk and tape infrastructure.
The city implemented a two-site ExaGrid disk backup system with post-process byte-level deduplication, NetBackup integration (OST) and offsite replication. This freed and redeployed SAN disk, reduced tape reliance, delivered faster backups and restores, eliminated backup-window overruns, simplified retention policies, and provided scalable capacity plus proactive vendor support.
