City of Cumberland cuts backup time from 15 hours to 7 with ExaGrid

The City of Cumberland, Maryland faced challenges with an outdated backup infrastructure reliant on unreliable tape drives, which resulted in inconsistent backups and a significant administrative burden. Seeking a modern solution, the city selected a disk-based backup system with data deduplication from ExaGrid.

ExaGrid implemented two appliances that cross-replicate for disaster recovery. This solution cut the backup window for a key server by more than half, from 15 hours to just 7 hours, while deduplication reduced storage needs. The city also highlighted ExaGrid's responsive support and the system's scale-out architecture, which provides flexibility to accommodate future data growth.
