Their process of writing to disk then copying to tape couldn’t free space quickly enough, limiting retention and requiring extensive manual tape management.

Cervalis deployed an ExaGrid disk-based backup system with deduplication—an easy, four-hour install that integrated with their CommVault environment. The solution delivered faster backups, more than doubled onsite retention, and reduced tape handling from several hundred swaps to fewer than 20. Operationally, the backup engineer now saves about 10 hours per week, and the scalable GRID architecture supports future growth.
