CenterState Bank of Florida Chooses ExaGrid over DD for Price/Performance

CenterState Bank of Florida, a 56-branch community bank, was struggling with tape-based backups that routinely ran past backup windows and produced slow, unreliable restores. After evaluating options to modernize their backup architecture and better support a virtualized environment, the bank sought a disk-based solution that balanced performance, integration, and cost.

They deployed ExaGrid alongside Veeam for virtual machines and Symantec Backup Exec for physical servers, selecting ExaGrid over EMC Data Domain for its lower price, post-process deduplication, and GRID scalability. Backups now complete reliably within windows, restores (including VM recoveries) are much faster—one VM was restored and run from ExaGrid in under five minutes—storage footprints are reduced through deduplication, the environment scaled from one to five appliances across primary and DR sites, and backup administration time has dropped substantially.
