Capital G Bank Ltd Replaces Tape Backup in Favor of ExaGrid Disk Backup Appliance

Capital G Bank Limited, a privately held Bermudian financial institution with over $1.4 billion in assets, was struggling with slow, unreliable tape-based backups and time-consuming restores that often exceeded nightly backup windows and complicated remote-site management. The bank needed a more reliable, faster solution that would simplify offsite replication and improve disaster recovery.

Capital G deployed a two-site ExaGrid disk backup appliance working with Symantec NetBackup and Quest vRanger Pro, using post-write deduplication and byte-level replication to minimize storage and WAN usage. The result: nightly backups now complete within the window, restores take minutes or seconds, tape handling was eliminated, IT staff time was freed for other priorities, and the bank gained a scalable, more reliable disaster-recovery capability.
