A ExaGrid Case Study
Binghamton University, a public research university, was struggling with an IBM TSM/tape backup workflow that had become unmanageable as data grew. The backup window kept expanding and moving data from disk to tape could take seven to ten hours, creating operational bottlenecks and consuming valuable IT time.
The university deployed a two-site ExaGrid system (primary and offsite DR) that integrates with IBM TSM, using a landing zone, zone-level deduplication and GRID-scalability. The change eliminated much of their tape dependency, cut restore times by about 90 (restores that took ~10 minutes now complete in under a minute), simplified management with an intuitive GUI, and freed IT time for other projects while delivering responsive vendor support.
