A ExaGrid Case Study
Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB), which operates King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute and the Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre serving residents and visitors to Bermuda, was struggling with tape-based backups (using Veritas Backup Exec). Growing data volumes led to long backup windows that sometimes overran schedules and made restores slow and cumbersome—putting timely access to patient information and disaster recovery at risk.
BHB replaced tape with an ExaGrid scale-out disk system and added Veeam for virtual machines while keeping Veritas for physical servers. ExaGrid’s landing-zone architecture and tight Veeam integration cut backup windows in half, enabled instant VM recoveries, and made restores roughly 10x faster than tape, while providing scalable, reliable offsite replication and easier management of patient data.
