A ExaGrid Case Study
Bayhealth Medical Center, southern Delaware’s largest healthcare system, was limited by a SAN backup environment that lacked data deduplication. The SAN could only retain about a week of backups, forcing staff to copy nightly backups to tape and transport them offsite for disaster recovery — a labor‑intensive, insecure process that didn’t meet the organization’s growing retention and DR needs.
Bayhealth implemented a two‑site ExaGrid system working with their CommVault Galaxy backups, using post‑process deduplication and replication to a DR site. The solution cut stored data dramatically, eliminated much tape use and daily tape transport, enabled fast restores, and is expected to retain about a year of backups; it also delivered easier management, strong vendor support, and scalable growth at lower cost.
