Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, part of a global infrastructure firm operating in 80+ countries, needed to streamline backup processes, shorten backup windows, and improve disaster recovery for Exchange, SharePoint, SQL and VMware environments. The IT team evaluated tape and other options but sought a faster, more reliable disk-based solution that would work with their existing Symantec Backup Exec environment.

They deployed a two-site ExaGrid disk-based backup system with post-process data deduplication and nightly cross-replication between Atlanta and Jacksonville. Backups that once took eight hours (Exchange) now complete in about 1.5 hours, daily backup management dropped from hours to roughly ten minutes, and deduplication yields large storage savings (typically 10:1–50:1), while the solution proved quick to install, easy to manage, and scalable for future growth.
